Why bamboo textile?

Important positive contribution to our environment

Wearing bamboo clothes is ecologically very much justified for the following reasons !

Bamboo fights global warming of the earth.

Bamboo takes in nearly 5 times the amount of greenhouse gases and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. Through photosynthesis bamboo removes carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere thereby using carbon as an energy source and converting it into plant tissue which releases oxygen as a by-product.

Bamboo fights deforestation.

The strong bamboo roots fight erosion, sustain river banks, preserve water in the soil so preventing it from drying out. Bamboo helps diminish water pollution due to its high nitrogen consumption. The bamboo grass continuously renews itself by sending up new shoots after harvesting. Bamboo is a grass, the fastest growing plant in the world (up to 1 meter per day !) and can be harvested after 4 till 5 years. Traditional hardwoods not only take 25-70 years to mature, but also require replanting.

Bamboo does not require chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

That is why bamboo is hypoallergenic and organic.

Bamboo clothes are soft as silk and yet durable : bamboo feels as soft and light as silk and therefore makes it very pleasant and comfortable to wear, certainly on the naked skin. Yet, bamboo clothes are more durable and cheaper than silk and you can put them in the washer and drier.

Hypoallergenic : the risk of allergic reactions on contact with the skin is minimal, because growing bamboo does not require pesticides, insecticides or fertilizers.

Bacteriostatic, absorbing & breathable : because bamboo fibers have an open fibre structure humidity can be absorbed easier and faster than is the case with synthetic fibers which have little to none absorption capacity. The humidity absorption by the fiber on the one hand side and a better transport of heat to the exterior on the other hand side guarantee these bacteriostatic properties. During hot summers your body and skin will remain longer cool and dry. In the case of bath linen you will very clearly notice the higher bamboo absorption capacity even when comparing to cotton.

Biodegradable : bamboo fibers are degraded biologically within a short period of time .
